Doodles and such

Here is some of what I've been working on lately.  I've made a pact to draw/photoshop whenever I can (because I have fun doing it) and I think I'm starting to see some improvement.  Some monster ideas for a little childrens' book idea I have.  And my tractor drawing in two different colors.  Thinking about doing a free download of the tractor drawing, but I have to figure out how to get that going....

How's your week going? Today its supposed to be 60 so I'm trying to hurry to get this done so we can go outside before the rain comes.  Have a good one.  I'll be around.

Friday!

Hello all!  Its here, thank goodness.  Fridays are wonderful, even when you don't go into an office.  Somehow it will always be the best day of the week to me.

What are you up to this weekend?  I for one hope to get a few things done around the house.  Its been in a state of chaos lately because I'm in one of my moods.  Bookshelves have been moved, toy boxes are relocated and seed sprouts have a new home (good things to report, btw.).  Yes, I moved both the bookshelf and the toy box myself thank you very much.  I get super human strength when I get a mind to rearrange.  I want to get this done too:
Something just isn't sitting right with me about it.  What do you guys think it needs?  Do you think it would look better if the frames were white?

I don't know.  I really, really don't want to paint all of them, and I don't want to buy new ones either.... But I think it may look better. What do you think?  I need it to be arranged differently, too...
I think what I really need is a new couch!  That makes it simple:)

I want to get this little project finished:
I've seen the idea around and wanted to take a crack at it myself.  I think it will be pretty cute.  I love this picture of me and my sister (I'm in the stroller) but I may use something else.... Not sure.  That's the beauty of this idea though, I don't have to commit!

I also want to figure out a way to make this:
Look a little more like this fruit stand:

Hello ambition!  I have about 43 glass jars I need to figure out, too but that may be asking a wee bit too much.

Do you all have any goals for this weekend?  Anything you're dying to be over with?

Talk at cha soon.

Valentine's Craft for Toddlers using Stickers

A little craft idea that's super simple and enjoyable for adults and kids alike.  No messy clean up and no smocks required.  Just a few stickers and some imagination.

I did most of this one because Sam had a little trouble getting the stickers to stick where he wanted them, but he enjoyed watching me do it and when it was finished he really liked to trace the line with his finger.
I think this would work great for a child just a smidgen older or one with super dexterity.  I used multipurpose labels found in the office supply section of Meijer.  Used my good ol' free hand to draw an imperfect heart on construction paper and stuck the stickers around it, along the line.  You could print some templates out on the computer if you want something more precise, or if you are doing this for a larger group of children.  I thought it would be cute if you filled it with something too, but Sam had lost interest by that point.
Our L-O-V-E constellation was a joint effort too made using the same concept as the first.  I found the larger the star, the more likely it would end up where he wanted it so I took the small ones and gave him the larger ones.  Cute.  Again- could work great printed out on the computer as a template...
This one was by far the crowd favorite.  I happened to find a sticker packet with some of his favorite things.  Yes, my son is all boy.  He loved sticking them on the heart, loved saying their names, loved gazing at them.  Remember this old heart cutting trick?
We used it.  After I took the picture, we added some more to it. I asked him about other things he likes and we had a great time discussing it while I wrote down everything EXACTLY as he said it (making sure to translate where necessary).  I would've gotten a picture of it but.... well.... its currently taking part in nap time:
Yes, he sleeps with Thomas, too.  I can't wait to look at this with Sam when he's older and laugh about the funny way he used to say music (eric).  I'm not rushing it though.

Happy Valentine's Day ya'll.  Hope its full of love.

Green

I always get a need for green things in the thick of winter.  Its like hope.  I guess the color green represents that for me.  So when its cold and dreary and windy a little green can go a long way.  I planted seeds this year for the garden I swore I wouldn't plant again:)  My garden, it appears, is more a way for me to get through the winter than a fun pastime for me in the summer.  During the heat I barely make it out there and the weeds inevitably take over.  Some rodent steels my fruit. I get really mad.  I vow never to do it again.  Then winter strikes and I've forgotten all the trouble.  I've gotten off to a better start than usual this year at least.  I recorded what I've sown so I know which sprout is which.  Novel concept, I know.  Sam took part in planting the seeds but didn't like getting his hands dirty but likes to check on them everyday (and sometimes pull one out by the roots. oh well, we have a few to spare, I think).  Its another reason I decided to try my hand at gardening again.  Perhaps this time I'll do a better job because I have little eyes watching.  AND maybe, just maybe, he'll like to eat what he helped grow (fingers crossed).
I went a little overboard, you say?  Yes, I do believe you're right:)  We have about 503 little sweetie tomato plants.  If any survive, I'll have to give them away... so, if you're in need, hold tight but don't hold your breath:) We've also had a mammoth sunflower and an evening sun sunflower sprout.  Everything else is holding me in suspense.  Will it or won't it?
I also bought some herbs for my window sill.

ahhh.  That's a little better. A little green really does go a long, long way.

Hope all is well with you all.  I'm going to try and get some of my painting projects done this week and I'll keep you posted if I do.

Have a wonderful day!

Stooges

Came home from the grocery store yesterday to find a couple a stooges in my living room.
They looked a little mean at first but after a minute they warmed up to me.
And even looked cute.
This is punny (funny) da da.

Hope your weekend is punny too.

Toddler Room Ideas

Making an effort to spend more of my free time doing creative things instead of getting lost on the terrible/wonderful internet or my warm/coma inducing bed.  My latest pen and ink drawing above.  I used one of Sam's toys as a model.  Some version of this will go in his room when I get my act together:)

I've been thinking a lot about his room since a couple of weeks ago when we made the switch to a big boy bed. He was getting too heavy to lift up and over.  Either he's big or I'm a wimp.  Haven't quite decided which is true:)  I said a tearful goodbye to his baby bumper but we're still using the same sheets and bedding (we just took the front off of the crib).  I went on a hunt for a good dresser for him because our other one was literally falling apart.  I found one for $60 at a thrift store that's completely u to the g-l-y. I should have haggled them down to $30 but it goes to a good cause so I didn't worry too much about it.  I still feel like I got a good deal considering new ones go for $200 at the least and probably aren't made as well.
This picture doesn't do the ugliness justice.  BUT never fear.  I have PLANS:)  I'm going to paint this bad boy and put on new hardware and feet and then he'll be wonderous.  Think this:

Or this:

I won't be putting flowers on my son's dresser, don't worry but I liked the colors.  Not completely decided on the color I'm using yet but leaning toward white.  Its a huge dresser and all solid wood.  They just don't make 'em like that anymore. It fits all of his clothes PLUS his diaper stuff and sheets and there's still room.  Its old school.  And I think we just might have it forever.

I'm thinking of this color scheme and I've already picked out a color for the stripes.  Jason thinks it looks like a lot of work.  I think it looks cool:)

And we're going to have lots of these here and there and everywhere:

Oh, and of course, there will be pictures of trucks and trains like the one I started above.  So what I really need is for spring to come so I can get painting. I think I have awhile.

Hope all is well with you.  Sorry its been so long but I've been, well, hibernating.  Plus its been a little busier than normal around here too.

Smell ya later.
